Meat Fairies could be compared to shrooming – things progress into the weird before you notice. The punkish boogie stomp of “Roach” gets replaced by the Totimoshi-like “He,” which morphs further on down the line into the skittish groove of “Hogfather.” By the time you reach “Ginko,” they’re throwing in a sax solo, just for the hell of it. “She,” the final track, burns slower than the others, but its languid pace is just as turbulent overall as the previous tracks. With the sound of falling rain in the background and the violin solo, it could be considered acid western music – gloomy and morose. This is odd music for odd people. I dig it plenty. If you’re looking for something new to playfully mess with your head, check out Ugh!
